The Park Rapids City Council on Aug. 23 added Calvary Lutheran Church to the list of approved locations for the city’s Sculpture Trail.

According to City Administrator Angel Weasner, the Arts and Culture Advisory Commission received a request from the church to put in a sculpture pad.

“They had torn down a house that was currently there,” said Weasner, “and have acquired the property, and they are going to put in a pollinator garden, and they wish to actually have a sculpture at that location.”

The city council approved the other Sculpture Trail locations in October 2019, Weasner noted. She said either a concrete pad or a rock, to be placed at the church’s expense, will be located east of Scooter’s on the south side of State Hwy. 34, and the Arts and Culture commission will determine what sculpture to put on it.

Council member Tom Conway made a motion to approve the request, and it passed unanimously.
