MINNEAPOLIS, MN – August 16, 2022 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Precision bearing specialists CARTER AMERICAS are delighted to confirm that they have secured a new agreement which provides them with exclusive distribution rights for NMB E-Type bearings within the USA for use on suspension components, typical applications being control arms, tie rods, and wishbone links.

The agreement covers North and South America and enables users competing in NASCAR,  IndyCar and all other motorsport racing to exploit the important benefits of E-Type bearings helping them to gain a competitive edge. Customers can also be assured that the exclusivity of the agreement helps with regular stock holding and scheduled deliveries to Carter Americas minimising supply chain issues.

Carter offers customers the all-important status of ‘space heritage’ having had direct involvement in the design and installation of bearings for prestigious aerospace and space projects. Carter’s technical expertise within the aerospace industry offers a unique approach to motorsport. It is clear that the E-Type lined bearings, which were developed in conjunction with Formula One teams, secures a competitive advantage for all racing formulae.

E-Type bearings, available in sizes ranging from 3/16 to 3/4 and metric sizes, are widely acknowledged as being the best bearings for these demanding applications. So what are the key design features which make the difference?

To the naked eye, E-Type bearings show their superiority as they have a super finish polish which helps to minimize friction, ensuring smooth rotation in all directions, enabling the most balanced car with predictable and enhanced performance. Their proprietary PTFE liner reduces side-to-side movement and deflection under load, along with the capacity to increase a radial load rating by up to 35% compared to other bearings.

This liner also helps to increase the maximum operating temperature of the bearings from 121ºC (249ºF) up to 180ºC (356ºF) which is a better option for a component usually situated close to a heat source.

In addition to the superior performance of the NMB E-Type bearings is Carter Americas can supply all the specialist tools required to remove inferior or used bearings, replace with better ones and test to ensure optimal performance. For example, a Swivel Torque Tool tests for both breakaway and swivel torque which provides users with tangible data illustrating not only why E-Type bearings perform better but to also offer a scientific approach to performance outcomes. Also, proof load tests will check to see if the bearings have been safely installed, again backed-up by tangible data.

Carter cutter tools are designed for safe and effective removal of old bearings that have either already been worn out, or that are showing too high levels of torque prior to a race so users can quickly exchange the bearings to achieve optimal torque levels. In addition Carter swaging tools are acknowledged as being one of the best ways to achieve consistent and uniform swage, without impacting the bearing torque. This means a much improved alternative to using ‘standard’ press staking tools which tend to use extreme loads which can seize the bearings.

Erick Sloan, Chief Operating Officer of Carter Americas comments, “This new agreement underlines our commitment to offering customers a market-leading one-stop-shop for the supply and fit of the next generation of E-Type motorsport bearings. Our service includes the supply of rod ends and bearing installation, removal and testing tools, which helps our motorsport customers gain the all-important competitive edge”.
