Shanghai (Gasgoo)- China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd. ("CAERI"), an important technical support institute in China's automotive industry, announced on July 28 its board of directors had approved to build its east China headquarters project with around 2.382 billion yuan ($353.177 million) to be invested.
Under the new project, CAERI plans to build two bases, which are located in Suzhou and Changshu cities of Jiangsu province. The decision came after CAERI signed investment agreements with the management committees of Suzhou National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone and Changshu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in November and December last year, respectively.
According to CAERI's latest announcement, the Suzhou base would involve an investment of 2.349 billion yuan ($348.284 million). To be specific, engineering construction will cost the company 890 million yuan ($131.96 million), and facility procurement and installation will use up 1.23 billion yuan ($182.371 million).
At the Suzhou-based site, the company plans to build several labs for testing and R&D of new energy vehicles (“NEVs”), electronic communications and software, auto parts for military and auto racing uses, as well as automobile performance, aiming to provide both auto parts suppliers and automakers with a full-chain testing services from high-precision devices, key auto components, to core automotive systems and complete vehicles.
Involving a planned investment of 33 million yuan ($4.893 million), the Changshu base will have a testing and R&D lab for hydrogen-powered vehicles, and relevant supporting testing equipment. It will be dedicated to offering technical services related to tests and R&D of hydrogen-fueled vehicles and systems.
Established in 1965, CAERI is engaged in product development and technical consulting, testing, quality inspection, and authentication for China’s automotive industry.
