With every new round baler, manufacturers always try to produce a machine that can pack more materials into each package at a higher density.

This is very useful for packing, shipping, and storage efficiency, but can present challenges when presenting bales to hungry stocks.

Using a bale unrolling machine is a solution; the most common is a tractor-mounted device with a chain and slat conveyor, after removing the net and wrapping, only the rolled up feed needs to be unrolled.

This is a simple and relatively inexpensive way to distribute silage or hay along the feed barrier-even into the trough with a conveyor belt extension installed.

Mounting the machine on a farm loader or telescopic loader opens up more opportunities-such as unwinding into a ring feeder, making it easier to extract inventory for rationing.

Or put it in a ration feeder to make it easier for the machine to mix the packaged silage or straw with other ingredients.

Any number of variants can be provided to suit different building and feeding area layouts and sizes, and there are also loading options-use a separate loader with the most basic model or add side loading arms for greater independence.

However, the most common solution is to use an unroller with pull-out tines to eject the bales and then insert them back in to transport them to inventory.

The core product of the Altec baler series is the DR tractor connecting rod installation model, which is available in two sizes: 160 for round bales up to 1.5m in diameter, and 200 for bales up to 2m and 1t in diameter.

All models are distributed from the rear of the tractor to the right, and in the most basic DR-S form, the machine does not have any loading mechanism. The DR-A version adds a side-mounted hydraulic carrying bag arm.

There is also the DR-P mounted on the connecting rod, and its deployment and distribution components are mounted on the turntable, so it can be hydraulically rotated 180 degrees to dispense to the left, right or back.

This model is also available in two sizes-170 for bales up to 1.7m and larger 200-without (DR-PS) or with (DR-PA) bale pack carrier arms.

Common features of all products include painted finishes, galvanized self-adjusting chains for U-shaped bale rotation and conveying slats, and steel floors that prevent loose materials from falling.

Options include loader and telescopic fork loader couplings, hydraulic left/right shift in the turntable version, a 50 cm hydraulic folding conveyor extension and a 1.2 m high lifting frame for obstacles when installing the spreading kit Distribute straws on the objects (see "Want to spread bedding straws?" below).

Price: Basic DR-S from £6,000; DR170PA expander with straw spreader kit, £12,000

Bridgeway's tine load bale unroller is fully galvanized © Bridgeway

In addition to Roto Spike (a device mounted on a tractor linkage with a hydraulically driven rotor with two strapping teeth), Bridgeway Engineering also manufactures the Diamond Cradle-type strapping unroller.

It has a unique optional weighing system, so it can record the amount of forage allocated, and it can also be adjusted by using a countdown to display the target weight.

This heavy-duty device is fully galvanized and designed with a deep bracket. The plug-in tines bolted to the rear frame can be loaded more easily. The rear frame can be set as a tractor link or a loader/telescopic boom fork. Installed and installed.

The automatic coupling hydraulic drive can be switched to convey from the right or left side of a nail chain and replaceable slat conveyor that passes through the enclosed floor to collect loose material.

All shafts are closed, and side rollers are used to accommodate large diameter or deformed bales. They are standard equipment and are equipped with hanging rubber pads to provide protection.

Blaney X10 Bale Foraging Machine © Blaney

The simplest model in the Blaney Agri series is the Bale Feeder X6, designed for straw, hay and silage bales in good shape and condition.

It can be installed on the three-point linkage of a tractor of 75hp or more, and adopts the X6L loader installation form.

In each case, the mounting frame is equipped with a pair of prongs, which can be retracted for loading after the unfolding bed is unlocked, and due to the different lengths of the prongs, only the longer prongs must be accurately positioned before they can be re-engaged.

A hydraulic motor automatically engages with the lugs on the drive rollers to power the conveyor, with its spiked slats, heavy chains, and hardened rollers to the left or right.

Blaney's Forager X10 tractor-mounted and X10L loader-mounted unfolders can be equipped with adapters so they can be used on any host vehicle without fuss.

It is a larger and heavier machine than the X6, designed to handle soft, deformed bales and well-shaped bales.

The extension arm and roller kit can be installed above the end of the two-way chain conveyor.

The replaceable 50mm tines are designed for handling machines and bales at highway speeds or along rough tracks, and the fixed latch can be operated hydraulically as an option instead of by pulling a rope.

The X10W mounted on the tractor has an extension of 60 cm or 100 cm, which can further transport the packaged materials to the feed barrier or enter the trough.

From the horizontal position, the extension can be adjusted upwards by 45 degrees for feeding, and can be adjusted to a near vertical position for transportation.

All X10 unwinding rollers are available in painted or fully galvanized finishes.

Price: X6 from £4,600; X10 with rollers from £5,800; X10W with conveyor belt extension from £7,700

Emily Delta turntable strapping unroller with integrated loading arm © Emily

Emily's Pick & Go is one of a series of tools that are operated on a spiked nose carried on a tractor link, loader, or telehandler.

In addition to the standard decoiler, there is also a dry feed mixing feed box and a combined bale decoiler and straw spreader.

These can be quickly interchanged with sweeping brushes and single tire silage thrusters.

The 120 cm long tines fit into the notches at the bottom of the machine, instead of engaging with the tubes in the frame of the bale spreader, the hook engagement rod can bear most of the tool's weight of 650 kg.

The gears mesh automatically to transmit the hydraulic drive to the deployment mechanism, which consists of spiked U-shaped slats on two chains located on the PTFE-coated floor.

There are left-hand and right-hand distribution versions, both capable of handling bales with a diameter of 1-1.8m, and there is a bale retention kit to accommodate irregularly shaped bales.

Emily’s Delta model is a turntable bale unroller that can be manually rotated or used hydraulic power to distribute the forage to either side of the tractor, loader, or telehandler, or the rear of the tractor.

The hydraulic drive speed to the bale rotary conveyor can be adjusted on the machine or by the control device in the cab.

The loading arm with hydraulic telescopic and lifting operation can automatically adapt to any size bale and is also part of Delta packaging.

Price: Pick & Go £5,483 to £6,931; Delta Air Lines from £5,959 to £9,336.

Hydraulic side shifting is a standard feature of Balemaster, allowing the equipment to be operated on large tractors or tractors with wide wheels and tires.

This helps clear feed barriers while still transporting the forage to a place where the cattle can easily reach it.

The machine is nail-mounted, and two 50mm tines are bolted to the headstock unit; their lengths are different to make it easier to insert into the frame after loading.

The latch mechanism is engaged to keep the two components coupled, and the headstock uses a hydraulic side shift mechanism that can provide 43 cm of lateral movement.

Balemaster’s conveyor consists of a square profile with welded nails, which runs above the stainless steel floor, preserving loose material; the rest of the structure is completely galvanized.

There are two bale holding rollers-one on each side-to aid the delivery process, especially for sagging or deformed bales.

Price: Balemaster £5,065, from Gerety Farm Machinery.

The Hustler Unrolla chain and slat feeder can discharge to either side © Hustler

Hustler manufactures two types of bale unrolling machines-the chain conveyor Unrolla is only used for round bales, and the chainless model with side rotors that can rotate and comb the material in the bale.

Both types are available for tractor or loader installation, with tines on the back plate for loading, and can also be used as a towed machine with a rear hydraulic loading fork, and it can also transport the second bale to the distribution purpose. land.

The Unrolla LM105 is an entry-level model of a tractor or loader; it has a pull cord to release the fixed latch so that the tines can be retracted for loading, and it has single-lever control for dispensing speed and left or right discharge.

LM105T has an extended conveyor for distribution to the tank or feeding barrier, which can be adjusted to the feeding position or vertical conveying by hydraulic cylinders.

LX105 is a heavy-duty model whose strength comes from components such as a galvanized "bridge" structure containing feet. It can also be connected from either end, and has an automatic lock and release mechanism.

Common features of all three models include a low-friction polyethylene conveyor base plate that retains loose material, self-aligning roller bearings, covered roller drive shafts, and large guide cones to help position the tines when rejoining the rear frame .

The Hustler chainless feeder has an inclined polyethylene deck and rotor instead of a chain and slat conveyor © Hustler

These functions are also applicable to the Hustler Chainless LM104 weighing 640 kg and the heavier LX104 and LX105, which are used for round bags with diameters up to 1.2m and 1.52m, respectively, and can also handle square bags.

A hydraulically lifted polyethylene bracket is lowered to the ground for loading and then lifted to keep the bale engaged with the two low-speed horizontal rotors.

They rotate at a speed difference of three to one, picking materials from a bag weighing 1.5 tons, and distributing it to only one side, with the rotor teeth passing through the cleaning slot.

In addition to the self-loading tines installed at the rear, the trailing version can also have a molded twine and packing box at the front, a side slide to provide additional distribution range, and a platform for 1.24m rectangular bales Extension part.

The "uniform feed" roller located above the chainless model rotor is designed to help break the densest square bales.

Price: The Unrolla on the tractor starts at £4,970 and the unchained version starts at £7,910.

Lucas-G’s UBI feeder has a hydraulic bed tilt mechanism to load and help regulate the feeding process © Lucas G

The tractor-mounted model with a telescopic loading arm is a 710 kg entry-level machine in the UBI series of Lucas-G.

When loading, the unfolding bed and the fixed arm are pivoted by the hydraulic cylinder nearly 90 degrees, the telescopic part of the arm is pulled in, the machine pivots back to the working position, and the bale is on the ship.

The bale with a diameter of 1.2m is unfolded to the right using an open conveyor assembly. There are nails on the wide U-shaped slats, and there is a restriction bar above the discharge point to keep the bales (especially deformed bales) in the conveyance. on board.

The UBI Swiveling version, weighing 880 kg, has a 180-degree hydraulically driven turntable that can discharge materials to the right, left or back of the tractor.

Lucas-G's UBI Pic bale spreader can be detached from the toothed rear frame. The bracket is designed to be used on a loader to retrieve and place bales with a diameter of 1.2m on the unfolding conveyor belt.

In the standard form, each conveyor slat has a fixed tooth; but as an option, a retracting tooth mechanism can be installed to minimize the possibility of forage or straw being brought to the bottom.

Although the loader-only Pic Fix version of this machine has a static spreading bed, the Pic model that can be used for loader or tractor linkage has a hydraulic tilt adjustment function that can be used to adjust the bale rotation affected by the shape and density of the bale.

UBI Jet models based on UBI Swiveling are equipped with a traction tooth rotor or two spinners for spreading straw (see "Want to spread bedding straws?").

Price: UBI 5,250 pounds; UBI Pic 6,500 pounds; UBI Jet 9,625 pounds; UBI Jet Disc 9,000 pounds.

Nugent Engineering's bale feeder is a symmetrical unrolling machine that can be driven by a hydraulic motor to discharge left or right.

The painting device is configured for a tractor three-point linkage, a tractor loader or a telescopic fork loader. During the loading process, when the built-in tines on the headstock are taken out of the pipe in the structure, it stands on a separate galvanized On the feet.

Once the bale is placed on the boat, the guide cone helps to re-engage the tines, the lug coupler engages with the hydraulic drive, and the automatic locking mechanism holds the two parts of the machine together.

The bale is rotated by a chain and slat conveyor, which is assembled using galvanized chains and spiked square-section rods, which run on a low-friction polyethylene floor to prevent loose material from falling.

The standard rear guard can also prevent overflow, and a bale restriction bar with hanging rubber flaps can be added above one or two discharge points to keep soft or deformed bales in place.

The basic model Suire DF baler has a short conveyor belt and a loading arm option © Suire

Starting from the entry-level DF model, Suire offers a variety of bale unwinder configurations to adapt to operations on tractor linkages, tractor loaders and telescopic handlers, all capable of handling round bales weighing 1 ton and 1.8 meters in diameter .

The 475 kg DF discharges to the right when the tractor is operating at the rear, using a conveyor formed by U-shaped spiked slats and a chain running around the traction roller to achieve forward drive.

The conveyor only extends from half of the machine, so it is shorter than most, there is a lining underneath to prevent loose material from falling, and an extended conveyor can be used to increase coverage.

The curved steel plate completes the standard model bed, but when the optional side-mounted loading arm is installed, the flat steel plate that forms part of the loading arm performs this function when in the raised position.

The arm itself has a telescopic end part that can be adjusted manually or hydraulically to adapt to different sizes of bales. Manual or hydraulic offset can move the machine sideways by 20-60 cm.

For the 630 kg Suire DALM and the heavy DM weighing up to 755 kg, a similar option can be used to move 30 cm left and right.

To increase versatility, they have the same bale unfolding structure installed on the turntable, with left, right and built-in rear discharge locking positions.

Suire's Rollpick Pro F is another option, with built-in bale tines for loading bales up to 2m in diameter, and automatic locking and releasing latches that hold the two parts of the tool together mechanism.

When the machine is lowered to the ground, a pair of locking pins will be retracted as the full-width skid is pushed up.

When the skids are lowered when the machine is lifted, they will re-engage and load with two 40mm tines.

Rollpick can provide welded or bolted connections for the installation of tractors, loaders and telescopic handlers, and can add a second traction and drive coupling so that the equipment can be accessed from either end for left or right unloading .

Bales with a diameter of up to 1.5m are suitable for unfolding, up to 1.8m when using the optional straw spreader, and DALM can also use this function (see "Want to spread bedding?").

Price: DF 4,600 pounds; Rollpic Pro F starts from 6,500 pounds (tractor), 7,100 pounds (tractor loader) and 8,000 pounds (telescopic arm loader) or 14,000 pounds, with straw spreader; DM-P (rotating tractor, Equipped with a straw spreader) from £8,000; DM-ET (same as DM-P, but with electronic controls for telehandler operation) starts from £16,000.

The BFX-180 is the simplest of Wessex International’s two round bale decoilers, both capable of handling bales weighing 1 ton and having a diameter of 1.8 m.

In its basic form, BFX-180 is equipped with an open table composed of a symmetrical frame, a conveyor belt composed of cross bars with bolted nails and roller chains, and a high-density polyethylene floor.

This layout, combined with a reversible hydraulic drive, enables the machine to dispense bales to the left or right, and provides optional front and rear bolted plates to keep loose materials and other types of feed in the conveyor machine.

For imperfect packages, a fence can be added above each of the two unloading points.

When loading, after the locking latch with drawstring is lifted, the pair of bale tines bolted to the headstock are withdrawn from the frame; after the bale is placed in place and the tines return to the machine lifting position , Quicklatch will automatically engage.

The BFX-180 weighs 525 kg and can be used with tractor linkages with optional 500 mm offset brackets, or bolted couplings for tractor loaders or telescopic handlers, and 800 mm offset brackets.

Elevator and straw spreading options are a feature of Wessex BFR-180. It is similar in concept but constructed with a heavier structure, including an integral back panel, a front cover on the headstock, and a rod conveyor at the ends of the limbs. Put the bag on the bed.

The Sidewinder conveyor extension device adds 230 kg to the base weight of the machine's 770 kg, and transports higher-height forage from the left to the trough or manger, and the right side can still use standard height unloading.

Price: BFX-180 starts at 5,680 pounds; BFR-180 starts at 6,580 pounds (conveyor extension 3,250 pounds, straw spreader 5,200 pounds).

If you need to scatter bedding straws into the fence and like the idea of dual-use equipment, there are several machines that can do it at the same time.

Altec's rotating DR-P is available in two sizes for bales up to 1.7m and 2m in diameter, with or without hydraulic loading arms. These can be equipped with two rows of rotating teaser tines, distributed to the left or right within a distance of 5-8m from the pen.

With the hydraulic drive turned off, the rotor is loosened at one end and rotated to one side, the machine can be used as a feed package decoiler.

Or, a pair of spreading discs distribute the straw from behind the tractor working in the pen, with a distribution range of 5-6m, with a maximum of 8m.

The Unroller Spreader in Emily's Pick & Go tool series is mounted on a rear frame with tines for loading bales.

It distributes the forage in the straw bale by unfolding to one side, and spreads the forage through the high-speed down-shooting rotor from the other side; there is also a variant that can be unfolded to either side or from one side.

Although the tines of the bale pack are engaged with the grooves under the machine, most of the weight is supported by the connecting hook, which is automatically connected by hydraulic drive.

According to the manufacturer, it can be installed on a tractor link, a loader or a telehandler, and it can usually throw 8m of straw.

Lucas-G UBI Jet is based on the UBI rotating side loading arm model and is equipped with a hydraulically retractable flexible gear expansion assembly.

The tractor linkage and its turntable body can be distributed up to 5m to the left, right or rear of the tractor, and the optional turntable system covers the rear 6m.

The optional hydraulic rotation of the upper turntable on Suire DALM enables it to cover 10-14m at a time from the rear of the tractor operating in the fence. The “Super Lift” hydraulic lift option enables it to clear feed obstacles, so it can be left or to the left from the aisle Extend 5-7m to the right.

There is also a spinner option that uses a pair of 960 mm diameter discs that can spread up to 9m, and there is a restrictor rod above the feed end of the bale rotating/feeding conveyor to help regulate the straw conveying.

After adding the relevant installation parts, the tractor loader or telescopic fork loader can also be operated.

Crossfire is the name Wessex gave to the bedding module of its BFR-180 bale spreader. The module includes a closed high-speed down-shooting tooth rotor capable of sending straw up to 10m into the fence.

Ideally mounted on a loader, the Crossfire shoots to the left, while the traditional low-level bale unfolding function can still be used in the opposite direction.
