The new Aspire Vero green laptop

I often use Chromebook. It is actually an old MacBook Pro, and I have converted it to a Chromebook through open source software. I even upgraded its memory to make it lively. This really helps it process at lightning speed. Or I think so. Because when I tried Acer's new Chromebook Enterprise 514, its speed shocked me. The speed of surfing the Internet and accessing specific web pages has increased exponentially, and the speed has increased significantly. I did some side-by-side comparisons, and Acer is a clear winner every time. Its ability to process things—such as this document I’m writing—is much faster. I realize that this particular model is designed for business users, but there is also a consumer version available.

What is impressive is that this is not the content of this column. More about how Acer has really strengthened with its new hardware recently. The company recently launched a series of new notebook computers. And they are really fast-and innovative. I have been trying out Acer's Aspire Vero Windows laptops for several weeks. It is completely environmentally friendly. From the moment you open the recycled paper box, you will see it. The paint-free laptop case is light gray with spots and looks almost like recycled cardboard. But it is actually a very durable plastic with a "post-consumer recycling" label engraved next to the touchpad. In fact, Acer unceremoniously refers to it as "a green PC made of recycled plastic. Our commitment to a more sustainable future." It aims to adapt to the needs of the planet, using 30% PCR plastic in the chassis , Thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 21%. Its design is easy to disassemble, convenient for quick maintenance, upgrade and recycling.

It is simply the best Windows laptop I have tried. Fast, clean, and vibrant 15.6-inch screen, great-feeling keyboard, Acer TrueHarmony crystal clear sound and Acer PurifiedVoice with AI noise reduction. You say it, this laptop has it. Oh, it comes with the new Windows 11 pre-installed. It is powered by the 11th generation Intel Core processor and Intel Iris Xe graphics card, and connects to your Wi-Fi via Wi-Fi 6. There is one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C and three USB Type-A ports.

You choose the battery mode that best suits your situation

Four battery modes help save power, including Eco+ mode, which can provide great battery savings when key functions are disabled, and Eco mode, which reduces system performance to improve power efficiency and battery life. I did not measure the battery life, but it seems to be able to be used for a long time without recharging while I use it.

The model AV15-51-75QQ I tried is equipped with an i7 processor, quad-core 2.90 GHz, 16 GB, DDR4 SDRAM and 512 GB SSD. It is priced at $900. It is powerful and smooth. The video runs without any problems, and the program loads quickly without freezing. I performed common tasks that people usually do on it-surfing the Internet on two different browsers, writing documents, playing spreadsheets, watching videos, listening to music, editing photos, downloading programs-with zero problems. I am not a Windows person. But if I consider moving like that, I will definitely consider this machine. Not only is it super fast, but its green characteristics make me feel real food for buying.
