The new price will be effective from December 1st

Motorcycle manufacturer United Motors and Pakistan's lowest-priced hatchback 800cc Bravo have increased the price of the car.

The price rose by at least 119,000 rupees and at most 140,000 rupees.

According to the company notice, the new rate will apply to all bookings made on and after December 1st. However, the new price of the car does not apply to all fully paid orders and those customers who deliver before December.

Below are the new prices for United Bravo and Alpha models.

The price of United Bravo 800cc has increased by 119,000 rupees and will now cost 1.15 million rupees.

The price of the United Alpha 1000cc hatchback increased by 140,000 rupees, after which it was priced at 1.4 million rupees.

This car competes with Suzuki's 660cc Alto in price. According to its characteristics, especially the engine size, it belongs to the categories of Suzuki Cultus, Wagon-R and Kia Picanto.

Pakistan's automobile industry is highly dependent on imported parts. At least half of auto parts are imported. This means that the price of Pakistani cars depends on the exchange rate of the U.S. dollar, and the U.S. dollar appreciates against the rupee.

United Automobile Dealer Iftikhar Anjum said that the price of raw materials such as steel, aluminum, paint and other materials in the international market has risen, and the exchange rate of the US dollar has appreciated daily, putting pressure on imports.

In addition, there is a shortage of auto parts in the international market. “60% of our spare parts are imported from China,” Anjum said.

Sabir Sheikh, a motorcycle dealer and chairman of the Pakistan Motorcycle Assembly Chamber of Commerce, said that 70% of motorcycle parts are imported from China.

Car dealers said that ocean freight rates have risen in the past few months, and the industry is facing supply problems due to a shortage of containers.

Anjum said that if customers overpriced cars, it may reduce the company's sales. Therefore, profits will remain low.

Sabir Sheikh stated that the industry is facing supply issues, adding that since the coronavirus outbreak, the delivery of parts and raw materials has been disrupted. In addition, the inflation rate rose to a four-month high of 9.2% year-on-year in October 2021, compared to 9.0% in the previous month. The higher inflation rate made Pakistan's plastic-related parts more expensive, he said.

Sheikh said that because small car companies are unable to work on quality infrastructure and localization, even if the prices of these cars increase, people will prefer big brands, so price increases will affect the sales of their cars. The same ratio.

Sheikh added that there is no comparability between cars from top brands and lesser-known manufacturers.
