A MOTORIST was forced to take cover in a pub after his car was shot at as he drove through Hordle.

Ball bearings fired at the Suzuki Grand Vitara from another vehicle smashed both its front windscreen and rear window as it was travelling along Holmsley Chase towards Silver Street.

The driver, a 32-year-old Ringwood man, was unhurt in the incident which took place shortly before 9pm last Wednesday.

Police said he sought refuge at The Three Bells in Silver Street before leaving the scene, but no one at the hostelry was available to comment when the A&T got in touch today (Thursday).

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: “We received a report of criminal damage at 8.54pm on Wednesday 15th December following an incident in Hordle, Lymington.

“It is reported that a Suzuki Grand Vitara was targeted with ball bearings by another vehicle as it drove along Holmsley Chase and headed towards Silver Street, causing damage to the rear and front windscreen of the vehicle.”

Witnesses are being urged to come forward, as well as those who may have dash cam footage that could aid the investigation."
